Is this a good price? Here's how I track it.
I pull every Explora voyage's price every day and keep the record. That lets me tell you two things most cruise sites won't: whether a fare is good for its kind of voyage, and whether it's moved since I started watching it. Over time that becomes a Google-Flights-style read for luxury cruising; the canonical fare signal is the current read, with historical points shown where available.
The fare-status verdict
On the voyages page, the region pages, and each voyage page, every sailing carries one small status chip:
- Price drop At least 5% below the previous trusted fare check.
- Tracked low Within 1% of the lowest trusted fare across tracked days.
- Good value In the lowest price quartile of comparable voyages.
- Holding steady No stronger evidence-backed fare signal in the latest trusted check.
Good price compares each voyage against its true peers, other sailings in the same region and of a similar length, rather than against the whole fleet. A 7-night Mediterranean sailing is judged against other 7-night Mediterranean sailings, not against a 3-week Grand Journey. Tracked low and holding steady come from this sailing's own daily price record, so one chip tells you both how the fare sits against its peers and how it has moved over time.
What the tracking can and can't tell you yet
The latest trusted scan covers 728 voyages and records 85 fare movements. The signal is refreshed from the daily trusted scan; stale or under-review fares are shown without commercial guidance.
The euro-dollar angle
The dollar is near its strongest in 90 days against the euro, so euro-priced extras and any euro hotel bookings are about as cheap as they've been this quarter.
One honest caveat, because it's the question I get: the exchange rate does not change what you pay for the cruise itself. Explora quotes US guests in dollars, so your fare is your fare regardless of where the euro sits. Where it does matter is at the edges: the euro-priced onboard extras (the Anthology tasting menu runs about €165, for instance) and any pre-cruise hotel you book in euros are cheaper for US travelers when the dollar is strong. It's a small thing, but a strong dollar is a quietly good moment to splurge on the extras.
